Condensate Recovery Unit (CRU) or APressure Powered Pump Unit (PPPU) is a system used to recover and reuse condensate in industrial processes. Condensate is the liquid that forms when steam condenses, and it contains significant heat energy. Instead of allowing the condensate to go to waste, a CRU/PPPU captures and recovers it for reuse, resulting in energy savings and cost efficiency.
Here's how a typical Condensate Recovery Unit works:
1. Collection: The CRU/PPPU collects the condensate from steam systems, which can include various equipment like steam traps, heat exchangers, and process equipment.
2. Pressurization: The collected condensate is then pressurized using steam pressure or air pressure. This pressure drives a pressure-powered pump, also known as a steam (air) driven ejector or motive steam pump. We can ejet the solmotive steam as per required deliver head.
3. Pumping: The pressure-powered pump uses the pressurized steam to deliver the condensate to boiler feed tank or to a hot water supply.
4. Heat Recovery : As the condensate is being pumped, it transfers its heat energy to the incoming makeup water or process fluid, preheating it before entering the boiler or other equipment. This heat recovery helps reduce the energy required for heating the fluid, improving overall energy efficiency.
The benefits of using a Condensate Recovery Unit include:
1. Energy Efficiency: By recovering and reusing condensate, the system reduces the need for additional energy to heat makeup water, resulting in energy savings and lower operating costs.
2. Cost Savings: Using a CRU/PPPU can lead to significant cost savings by reducing fuel consumption, water usage, and water treatment expenses.
3. Environmental Sustain ability: The system promotes environmental sustain ability by conserving water resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy production.
4. Improved Equipment Performance: By removing condensate efficiently, the CRU/PPPU helps prevent water hammer, corrosion, and other issues that can affect the performance and life span of steam system components.
5. Power Saving: Using a CRU/PPPU no need to use mechanical pump to deliver the condensate and we can save the power.
